Basado en un cuento de Aleksandr Puskhin.
Película de animación soviética nunca terminada (o perdida).
La obra de Dmitri SHOSTAKOVICH, The Tale about a Priest and his Labourer Balda (opus 36), se compuso para este olvidado e incompleto dibujo animado soviético.
Resumen del cuento:
Tale of the Priest and his Labourer Balda
Once a greedy priest decided to find a hard working labourer. But he did not want to pay a good salary. In the market the priest met Balda. Balda agreed to be his labourer for very small salary: three flicks on the priest's forehead. The priest okayed and Balda started to work in priest's house.
He was very good labourer and everybody praised him except the priest who was afraid of Balda's flicks. Then he decided to give Balda business beyond his strength and sent him to the devils who owed some money to the priest. But smart Balda managed to fool the devils and brought the bag of collected money back to the priest. Balda gave three flicks to the greedy priest, knocked him down, and said: "Do not run after cheapness!"
